Sitting Still

Here I am, every eighth week in the hospital with an I.V. in my arm, the nurses are going to infuse me with powerful medication, Entyvio. I have severe small bowel Crohne’s. In 2017 I was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital that was NOT equipped to help me. I had gone septic with my first blockage, I had it for some time, and it wanted out.

They inserted a tube into my stomach from my nose. For the next 7 days I had no food of any kind, an occasional ice chip.Β The tube aided in emptying my stomach before vomiting again. Hey, it worked! I was in the most awesome trauma hospital I could imagine for seven days when my team of doctors reported that I was not able to live outside the hospital! In less than 90 minutes from that report I was whisked away to surgery. After surgery I didn’t think I’d ever be the same. I was right. I never have regained my energy.

As of now it has been about three years since my three-way resection. I was a mess so I was told. They fixed me up with the surgery and I was finally able to eat liquid or soft food diet. I was released after 11 days from my entry on death’s doorstep.

Now I’m in a major flareup and am hurting for it. But, I’ve survived worse, I think this is a partial blockage. The surgery they did left me with a scar in my intestine where they put me back together. This is a stricture and my stricture over time is shrinking. The pains are coming more often but so far I’m hoping I am not in trouble.

Been off and had a desire to share my health record.
